I’m building Why I Stopped Teaching Software around something I’ve learned repeatedly over many years of working with websites, online courses and online businesses: Knowing how to build something is not the same as knowing whether you should build it.

Before you create the course, choose the platform, design the website or start marketing, there are more important questions to answer:

• Why this idea?
• Why this audience?
• Why would someone pay for it?
• Why this offer?
• What evidence do you have that these are the right decisions?

Software can help you build faster. AI can help you build faster still. But neither can decide what deserves to be built, what needs to change, or what you should focus on next.
